New baseball park for Miracle League of the Triangle located adjacent to Durham Bulls and ATC
Architect: MHA Works
Engineer: Coulter Jewell Thames
The Miracle League program and field are specifically designed to serve children and adults with special needs through the game of baseball. The program removes the barriers that keep children and adults with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. Since the main barriers for these players arise from natural grass fields, Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assertive devices. Atlantic Corporate Contracting served as the contractor for this project, working closely with Capitol Broadcasting Company and the Durham Bulls to see the project to completion in 2018.
